Norway: aggressor killed his victims with “sharp object” and not with bow and arrows

The police of Norway revealed Monday that the five victims of the bow and arrow attacker last week were killed by a “sharp object” that the perpetrator used after dropping his bow.

“At some point he discarded or lost his bow and arrows”Inspector Per Thomas Omholt said at a press conference, adding that the man killed in Hyttegata “five people with a sharp object both in private places and in public spaces.”

The police, who until now had indicated that suspect Espen Andersen Bråthen He was armed with a bow and arrows, and two other weapons, he did not want to specify what kind of knife it was.

“Everything indicates that these victims were murdered at random”, Per Thomas Omholt reiterated.

According to the police, more than a dozen people were targeted by archery shots at the start of the attack, but none were killed by this mechanism.

Suspicious of Islamist radicalization, Espen Andersen Bråthen, a 37-year-old Danish man, acknowledged killing five people and wounding three others in this attack, which took place on Wednesday in Kongsberg, a small town in southeastern Norway.

“Regarding the motive, the disease continues to be the main hypothesis. And regarding the conversion to Islam, this hypothesis loses weight “added Per Thomas Omholt.

On Saturday, police identified the five victims, four women and one man: Andréa Meyer, 52, Hanne Merethe Englund, 56, Liv Berit Borge, 75, Gunnar Erling Sauve, 75, and Gun Marith Madsen, 78.
