Trump’s request to block records of the day of the assault on the Capitol rejected

A federal judge rejected the former president’s request on Tuesday Donald Trump to prevent the delivery of documents to the committee of the House of Representatives that investigates the assault on Capitol January 6 federal.

District Judge Tanya Chutkan refused to issue an injunction requested by Trump’s attorneys. Chutkan noted that President Joe Biden was “in a better position” to determine whether or not to waive the executive privilege of documents requested by the lower house.

Documents that would be released to the commission include call logs, draft statements and speeches, and handwritten notes from then-Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows, according to documents filed with the court by the National Archives and Records Administration.

There are also copies of topics of discussion by then-press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and “a draft of an executive order on electoral integrity,” noted the National Archives.

The legal dispute will possibly reach the Supreme Court.
