Alexia Sotomayor won gold medal in 100 meter backstroke swim

The South American Youth Water Sports continues to leave pleasant news for Peru and this time Alexia Sotomayor was the main protagonist. The national representative shone impeccably in the 100-meter backstroke of swimming and managed to obtain the gold medal, thus reaping yet another success for the country.

During the competition held this Tuesday, the Peruvian athlete managed to set a time of 1: 04.02, although it was not the only one. Argentine Candela Raviola had previously established the same duration in her tour, which is why the organization decided to award both.

The two competitors were left with the gold medal, while the podium was completed by the Chilean Martina Roper, with the silver medal for finishing second, and the Ecuadorian Andrade Villegas took the bronze, finishing in third place. .

It should be mentioned that it was not the only joy for Alexia Sotomayor during this day of testing: the IPD reported that he had obtained the South American record during the qualifying stage, with a time of 1: 03.98. The swimmer, part of the Athlete Support Program (PAD), had a day to remember.

In the same way, the Peruvian Institute of Sports reported that Cristiano Unten won the bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke of the men’s category by registering a time of 1: 01.92. In that test, the Brazilian Samuel Lopes took the gold and the Argentine Tomas Martínez with the silver.
