About 200 people demonstrated this Sunday in Miami to show support for the protests called for Monday, November 15 in Cuba and prohibited by the authorities.

The protesters, mostly members of the Cuban community in the US city, chanted slogans such as “Down with the dictatorship” or “Freedom, freedom”, in rejection of the communist government of the Caribbean island.

Mariano Pujol, 53, attended the ceremony called in the center of Miami because he felt “The commitment of support to the Cubans who are on the island ”.

“They are only asking for a peaceful change, nothing more”, said Pujol, who came to the United States 10 years ago, after leaving his Cuba natal.

“They are demanding their right to be free, not to live under the boot of an oppressive regime,” he added.

Monday’s march in Cuba, declared illegal by the government of Miguel Díaz-Canel, occurs at a time when Cuba It reopens its borders to international tourism and Havana celebrates its 502nd anniversary with street festivities.

Those who called this demonstration on the island are calling for the release of the political prisoners detained after the protests historical events of July 11 against poverty and lack of freedom.
