Official data also indicate that more than 21.2 million people infected by the virus have recovered from the disease, which corresponds to 96.4% of the total, and that another 182,585 are still under observation.

The figures confirm Brazil as the second country with the highest number of deaths from covid-19, after the United States, and the third in number of infections, behind the North American nation and India.

However, the number of deaths and positives has fallen almost consecutively in the country since June, a drop that has been attributed to the progress of the vaccination campaign.

Since the immunization process began last January, more than 300 million doses have been applied in the country.

According to data from the Health portfolio, in this nation of more than 213 million inhabitants, 74% of the population has already received the first dose of the vaccine and more than 60% already has the complete immunization schedule.
