At least 19 dead when a bus crashed in central Mexico

A passenger bus crashed this Friday into a house in the municipality of Joquicingo, in the central state of Mexico, adjacent to the Mexican capital, leaving 19 dead and about twenty injured, according to preliminary reports.

“A few minutes ago there was an accident on the Joquicingo-Malinalco highway. Emergency elements of the State of Mexico are attending to the injured people ”, The governor of the state, Alfredo del Mazo, announced on social networks.

The president of the State of Mexico affirmed that he instructed “The heads of Civil Protection, Security, Rescue and Health to support the affected families at all times.”

In an interview with Milenio TV, the Undersecretary General of the Government of the State of Mexico, Ricardo de la Cruz, reported that so far 19 people have died and more than 20 injured have been transferred to hospitals in the area by land and air.

According to preliminary information, the crashed bus came from the western state of Michoacán and was carrying pilgrims on their way to the Chalma sanctuary in Malinalco.

The official pointed out that the bus crashed on a secondary road that “It is not designed for cargo or passenger vehicles.”

The Government of Mexico state announced that it will be done “cargo”Of the funeral and hospital expenses of the accident.

The Red Cross reported that after the crash it mobilized paramedical personnel and 10 ambulances to the area.

On November 9, twelve people were killed and three injured in a car accident that occurred on a highway near Palenque, in the southeastern Mexican state of Chiapas, where two vans loaded with passengers collided head-on.

And on November 6, 19 people died in an accident in the state of Puebla, neighboring Mexico City, after a truck lost control and caught fire.
