The designers of the Russian vaccine against the Sputnik V coronavirus said Thursday that access to the official Twitter account of this vaccine had been restricted by the American social network, before being restored.

“Sputnik V @ sputnikvaccine’s account has been restricted. We are trying to establish the reasons for this, ”said the Russian Sovereign Fund (RDIF), which funded the development of the vaccine in a statement.

The official account of Sputnik V indeed posted Thursday evening the warning “Warning: this account is temporarily restricted”. It was however accessible if one clicked on the button “yes, see the profile”.

Later that evening, RDIF announced that access to the account had been fully restored.

“Twitter has restored access to the @ sputnikvaccine account and explained that they had restricted the account due to a possible security breach from Virginia, United States,” RDIF said in a statement.

This vaccine was registered in Russia in August. The country has thus become the first in the world to approve a vaccine against the new coronavirus, even if it has drawn criticism internationally in the face of an announcement deemed premature, before phase 3 trials and the publication of results. scientists.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that Sputnik V was “the best” in the world and ordered a mass vaccination in Russia to start from next week.
