South Korea: dairy company causes outrage for showing women as cows in ad [VIDEO]

A dairy company from South Korea it has been harshly criticized after it portrayed women as cows in a publicity video. Seoul Milk has had to remove the video from all its platforms after provoking collective outrage and generating a debate about machismo and sexism in the country.

As described by the international news network CNN, the company pointed out that the video was received in a different way than it was intended to broadcast; ensuring that the purpose of advertising was to show the organic origins that offer their products.

“We sincerely apologize to those who felt uncomfortable about the advertising video about milk uploaded to the official YouTube channel of Seoul Milk on the 29th of last month “, said the parent company of Seoul Milk, Seoul Dairy Cooperative, in a document posted on its website.

They also assured that their intention was never to represent women as cows. Even though the clip shows them like this.

In the video, which lasts less than 30 seconds, a man is observed with a camera in hand walking through a field of Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon province.

While the subject walks through the place, the voice-over narrates: “We finally managed to capture his images in a place where nature has been kept clean”.

As the man is seen crossing a stream, the voice continues: “We decided to approach them cautiously, who are drinking clean water from nature, eating organic food and living peacefully in pleasant surroundings”.

When trying to capture images of the open field, the explorer steps on a branch, which provokes the reaction of the women; who then become cows.

The company assured that there were also men in the video, but these could not be seen with the naked eye.

“We take this matter very seriously, and we will pay more attention and review to avoid similar problems in the future.”the company said in its statement.
