Italy suspends 308 doctors and health workers who worked without being vaccinated against the coronavirus

More than 300 doctors and other members of the health personnel have been suspended from employment and pay for working irregularly in Italy, not being vaccinated against coronavirus, the Carabineros reported today after the verifications carried out during the campaign on the mandatory nature of immunization for these groups.

In total, 308 health workers were found in an irregular situation because they did not have the vaccine against coronavirus and of them 135 had already been suspended from their jobs by the health authorities, revealed that police force in a statement.

The Italian Council of State ratified on December 2 that doctors and health personnel cannot by law refuse to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, and several courts have ruled that workers who refuse must be suspended from employment and salary until comply with the measure.

Since the beginning of November and until today, 6,600 medical workers, pharmacists, veterinarians and physiotherapists, among others, were controlled.

After the controls, the agents closed six medical centers and dental clinics and two pharmacies in which the personnel worked without vaccinations and that have been suspended.

In the execution of these operations, medicines and medical devices used fraudulently by people who had no right to have or to use them were also seized.

According to the Italian Council of State, health workers, “by law and even more so by the oath of Hippocrates are obliged to do everything possible to cure the sick, and never to create or aggravate the danger of contagion of the patient with whom they they are in direct contact in the exercise of their professional activity ”.

In the last twenty-four hours, Italy registered 30,798 new coronavirus infections, the largest increase recorded since November 2020, and 153 deaths were also confirmed, according to data on Tuesday from the Ministry of Health.
