CONFINEMENT REDUCTION

These high data are known precisely when the Government reduced the days of preventive isolation for suspected cases of covid-19 from fourteen to seven.

The Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, assured that the reduction in the number of days of isolation will be applied to symptomatic patients, regardless of whether they have a fever, headache or general malaise.

“These people, from the first symptom, must be kept in continuous isolation for seven days. No longer 10 or 14, regardless of their vaccination status ”, the minister indicated in a statement from his office.

Ruiz added that young symptomatic patients will not need to undergo the covid-19 test because the symptoms are already “conclusive evidence of the possibility of the presence of an infection by the omicron variant.”

Symptomatic people who have comorbidities, those over 60 years old or those under three years of age, should consult with their health companies for the respective follow-up.

In the case of asymptomatic patients who had close contact with people who were infected, it was determined that they are not required to be isolated for seven days or to undergo the covid-19 test.

FIGURES FROM THE CONFERENCE

The infections of the day were concentrated in the three most populated regions of the country: the department of Antioquia, with 7,333; Bogotá, with 5,961, and Valle del Cauca, with 5,093.

There were also high figures in Atlántico (1,406), Bolívar (1,076), Santander (691) and Cundinamarca (690).

Today, 122,242 diagnostic samples were processed in the country, 50,247 of them PCR and 71,995 antigens, for a total of 30.19 million tests carried out since the start of the pandemic.

On Wednesday, 292,171 serums were applied, of which 127,364 correspond to second doses and 13,335 to the single-dose formula of the pharmaceutical company Janssen.

With this, 65.56 million doses have been applied in the country and 28.74 million people have their complete vaccination scheme.
