Robots will serve meals in the canteen to fight Covid-19

Many sports competitions have been impacted by Covid-19 in recent months. In an attempt to limit the spread of the virus during the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing (China), 70 robots will be deployed in the canteen. Their goal: to deliver meals from the ceiling in order to limit contact as much as possible, reports HuffPost this Wednesday.

“How can the competitions take place in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic? We are in Haidian district, so we have high-tech products developed here, like disinfection robots and contactless delivery robots, which are one of the highlights of our event during the pandemic, ”explained Shi Wei, deputy director of the stadium, according to Global Times.

200 tools tested

During the presentation to the media, site officials said the system should operate 24 hours a day, throughout the international competition, so as not to disrupt the pace between ordering, preparation and delivery. They also indicated that these 70 robots are part of a whole new tech fleet. In fact, the local authorities have announced that they have tested around 200 robotic tools, deployed at all the Games venues.
