Another 25% think that the president, who denies the seriousness of the coronavirus pandemic, censors the use of the mask and questions the efficacy of vaccines, is more likely to help, while 14% did not know or did not want to answer.

In line with these results, 79% of those surveyed support protecting children against SARS-CoV-2, while 17% oppose it and 4% did not comment on it.

Datafolha interviewed 2,023 people aged 16 or over between January 12 and 13 to obtain the results of the survey, which has a margin of error of two points and was released today by the newspaper ‘Folha de Sao Paulo’.

Vaccination against COVID-19 for children begins in Brazil a month after the authorization of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and despite the resistance of the Bolsonaro government.

The head of state has frontally opposed the vaccination of this population group and has minimized the number of deaths of children associated with the coronavirus, which the Ministry of Health itself estimates at least 311 since the start of the pandemic.

Despite the president’s position, the government finally relented and included children in the national vaccination program against COVID-19, at a time when the virus is accelerating again in the country due to the rapid expansion of the omicron variant. .

To date, almost 70% of the 213 million Brazilians have completed the vaccination cycle.
