Colombia exceeds 200 daily deaths from coronavirus for the first time since August

Colombia registered this Sunday 217 deaths from covid-19, passing 200 for the first time since August, while daily cases seem to remain stable below 30,000 daily, although tests have also been reduced.

This is the highest number of deaths since August 3, when the country was emerging from the third wave of covid-19 and 268 deaths were reported.

According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, 26,087 infections were reported this Sunday, bringing the total to 5,740,179 cases, of which 147,398 are still active, 132,249 people have died and 5.4 million have recovered.

One more day, Bogotá was once again the department with the most cases (5,871) reported on the day, followed by Atlántico (2,834), Santander (2,791), Antioquia (2,779) and Valle del Cauca (1,679).

Today, 68,610 diagnostic samples were processed in the country, 37,809 of them PCR and 30,801 of antigens.

On the other hand, with the 311,404 vaccines given on Friday (118,714 are second doses and 24,116 single doses), Colombia already has almost 30.7 million people with the full schedule (single dose or two vaccines), that is, 60.3%. of the population.

In the country, 69,789,455 vaccines have already been administered, and 5,038,247 people have their booster dose.
