“No more drug trafficking or organized crime” in Honduras, says Xiomara Castro upon assuming power

The new president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, affirmed this Thursday that the refoundation of the Central American country begins with the reestablishment of respect for human beings and committed to “no more drug trafficking, nor organized crime.”

“The refoundation of Honduras It begins with the restoration of respect for human beings, the inviolability of life, the security of citizens, no more death squads, no more silence in the face of femicides, no more hired killers, no more drug trafficking or organized crime.”, stressed Castro in her first speech as president.

He added that refounding Honduras is “a homeland mission”, which “will not only call to account those who have been responsible for the image of our country being on the ground, but also that we are committed to our proposal of democratic socialism, to lay the foundations for a frontal fight against corruption, so that these events that have embarrassed us never happen again.”
