Donges refinery: strike resumed for a week after using 49.3

The struggle on the front of the dispute in the field of energy is getting fiercer. Workers at the TotalEnergies refinery in Donge (Loire-Atlantique) decided to continue their strike against the state pension reform that began on March 7 for another week, we learned from the unions on Friday.

Employees decided to “keep moving until Friday, March 24.” Since March 7, not a single drop of fuel has left the Donges refinery,” said Fabien Prive Saint-Lanne, a delegate from the CGT union, at the end of the general meeting, which was attended by several dozen employees.

“SFDM, the oil depot adjacent to the refinery, is also resuming its strike since yesterday (…), so it is clear that the mobilization is growing and the movement is intensifying,” continued Mr. Prive Saint-Lanne.

“Rogue Law”

A spokesman for the inter-union CGT-CFDT-FO called on President Macron to repeal “this fraudulent law after the denial of democracy, which is the use of 49-3”, ensuring that “the employees of this country put together have no choice but to fight and fight, otherwise tomorrow will be hours of work, paid holidays and the right to strike, which will no doubt be called into question.”

“I think 49.3 revived the troops a bit. Unfortunately, this use also leads to the crystallization of anger and tension,” analyzed Adrien Vaugrenard, representative of the CFDT, at the end of the general meeting, for his part.
