“We must find candidates”: the cities of Yvelines organize recruitment

Difficult to get into public service. Despite often favorable schedules and conditions, the cities of Sartrouville, Maisons-Laffitte, Montesson and Chatou, like others, are having difficulty recruiting. To the point of joining together to attract the attention of potential candidates, as in the last job forum organized at the beginning of the week in the Saint-Paul-de-Sartrouville space.

Among the great classics of communities there are advertisements for security guards, road builders, technicians, receptionists, mechanics, repairmen, rescuers, animators for children or for social events with KOAS …

But the range is becoming more and more diverse. So, some city halls may need a lawyer, a draftsman (who makes plans), or even a plumber. The bulk of the gaps are in early childhood and technical services. In total, there are 250 professions in the territorial public service. Only in Sartrouville there are about forty vacancies open!

Forums, also a way to raise awareness

Opportunities for Hervé, 52, a 30-year-old private sector worker: “I’ve been working in construction since I was 20, but I’m getting tired. I want to see what public service can bring me. The City of Sartrouville also wants to encourage such reflection. According to Lina Lim, Human Resources Assistant, in particular, “Information about the public service as a whole is missing.”

Image problem too. “I never entered the civil service because I didn’t think I could take a position without a diploma,” breathes a 37-year-old woman who has been unemployed for 6 months. “When we talk about public service, we immediately think of a civil servant,” the vice mayor admits. However, not all agents… “Jobs are open to everyone. »

That is why other specialized forums may be organized in the coming months, for example, one organized with the participation of local employment figures. “The Employment Forum is not only a recruitment tool, but also a tool to raise awareness and inform workers about the public service,” says Sylvie Collin, director of the agency Pôle emploi in Sartrouville. “We have to find candidates,” continues Lina Lim. To show them what open vacancies there are, how a career in government structures is possible. »
