Several lots of organic flour are being recalled due to the risk of chemical contamination.

Batches of three brands of organic flour are being recalled due to potential contamination with chemicals, government website Rappel Conso reported on Thursday. These bags were sold by U brand distributors (Hyper U, Super U), Metro France and Francap (Diapar, Segurel).

A batch of Périgord Farine – Minoterie Allafort T65 organic wheat flour and another batch of Belle France T65 organic wheat flour are being recalled due to the presence of hydrocyanic acid in the packages. They have been removed from sale since March 19 and March 14, respectively.

Hydrogen cyanide “is mainly used for the production of products such as cyanuric chloride, cyanides, ferrocyanides, etc.,” the Ministry of Labor clarifies, “it is also used as an insecticide and rodenticide. ” Rappel Konso emphasizes that its presence “leads to the appearance of the smell and taste of bitter almonds.” Its consumption is very toxic to humans.

Three batches of T65 U BIO wheat flour, 1 kg each, are also affected by the return due to a “physico-chemical discrepancy,” the nature of which is not specified. The consumer recall highlights the risk of the presence of “other chemical contaminants.” These items were available in U stores from February 16th to March 25th.

All of these flour packets should not be eaten or used. They must be returned to the point of sale or destroyed. Refunds are provided.
