Experiencing financial difficulties, Duralex demands to “open a debt collection procedure”

She is looking for a “better solution” for her future. Glass company New Duralex International (NDI), operator of consumer glassware brand Duralex, “has filed an application for foreclosure proceedings in its favor in the Orleans Commercial Court,” Duralex said on Tuesday.

“The goal is to find a buyer for NDI and thus find the best solution for the company,” which employs 230 people in a historic factory in Chapelle-Saint-Mesmines (Loire). “An administrator and a legal representative must be appointed by the court to assist the company during the observation period that is to open,” the company also clarifies in a press release.

“Financial Burden”

Duralex’s problems continued in recent years. After being forced to interrupt operations for several months during the energy crisis, the company found itself stranded again in March by a court order. The Orléans administrative court ordered it to pay a debt contracted in 2020 by the former operator before its takeover in 2021 by parent company Pyrex.

At current prices, this debt could reach €1.3 million, representing a “significant financial burden” that could “seriously jeopardize the financial condition of New Duralex International and its ability to maintain its operations in a sustainable manner,” the company said. management who decided to appeal.
