Oscar 2022: Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes will be the presenters of the gala

Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes will present the gala of the 94th edition of the Oscaras reported on Tuesday by the Hollywood Academy in a statement, which noted that they are “three of the most dynamic and hilarious women.”

“I know how much fun Regina, Amy and Wanda will be, it will rub off on our audience as well.”said the producer of the gala, Will Packer, who added: “There will be lots of surprises! Expect the unexpected!”

Schumer, Hall and Sykes stated for their part that they want “People get ready to have a good time.”

The goal of the gala, in the words of the Academy’s president, David Rubin, and the institution’s executive director, Dawn Hudson, is “Celebrate movie lovers alongside filmmakers and highlight fan favorites that demonstrate how film can bring us all together.”

“The hostesses of this star-studded party are three powerful and funny women who invite us to laugh and toast to the best and brightest of the year in cinema”they added.

The gala will be broadcast on the ABC channel in the United States and on multiple televisions around the world, the note specifies.

The Hollywood Academy thus confirms information that appeared yesterday in several media specialized in cinema in the United States, which already pointed to this trio of presenters for this year’s Oscars.

According to Variety, the gala will be divided into three one-hour acts, each led by a presenter, a detail that the Academy has not revealed.

The intention of the organizers is to make a more entertaining and agile show after last year’s ceremony, which registered historic audience lows with a reduced format due to the coronavirus pandemic and a script by Steven Soderbergh.

“The Power of the Dog” (“The power of the dog”), “Licorice Pizza”, “Coda”, “Don’t Look Up” (“Don’t look up”), “King Richard” (“The Williams method” , “Nightmare Alley” (“The alley of lost souls”), “Drive My Car”, “Dune”, “Belfast” and “West Side Story” are the Oscar nominees for best picture this year.

An edition that has four Spanish candidates: Penélope Cruz for best actress and Alberto Iglesias for best soundtrack, for “Parallel Mothers”; Javier Bardem, for best actor, for “Being the Ricardos” (“Ser los Ricardo”), and Alberto Mielgo for best animated short film for “The Windshield Wiper” (“The wiper”).
