On February 8, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed its list of nominees Oscar Awards 2022, which will be held on March 27 in Los Angeles. And one of the great expectations of this long-awaited gala was that the acclaimed “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is nominated in the category for Best Picture.
However, the Marvel film, as is often the case with comic book movies, was ignored by the Academy. The third installment starring Tom Hollandhowever, it was nominated in two technical categories: Best Visual Effects and Best Costume Design.
This decision by the Academy to ignore “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, a film well received by critics and acclaimed worldwide by people in different parts of the world has irritated the great legion of fans of the arachnid superhero and also members of the guild such as Kevin Smith.
“They got ten slots, can’t they just give one to the biggest movie of the last three years? Smith said on his Fatman Beyond podcast. “Man, and then they say, ‘Why doesn’t anyone watch this show?’ Like, f** how many holes do you have? Add Spider-Man for God’s sake. Let him in there…poor kid, he’s always dropping shit on her,” he added. “Show Peter Parker some love. I’m not even kidding, with so many movies like that now being nominated for Best Picture. Used to be five? he added.
Smith’s comment coincided with a cut in the broadcast of his YouTube channel. “NKids, the conspiracy is real,” he joked in a subsequent video. “I spoke that Spider-Man was not nominated by the Academy, and we were removed from YouTube. Tie those two things together. The truth is somewhere out there“, He said.
