Netflix will premiere “Bardo”, the new film by Alejandro González Iñarritu, in theaters

Netflix announced this Wednesday that it will premiere the new film by Mexican Alejandro González Iñárritu, titled “Bardo (o Falsa Crónica de few Verdades)”, in theaters at the end of this year.

The film, which in the US will be called “Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths”, will later become part of the platform’s catalog in both Latin America and Europe.

“’Bardo’ is a cinematic experience that has inspired us to create a release strategy designed to make the film penetrate the culture as big and wide as possible”justified the president of the Netflix movie division, Scott Stuber.

The company only releases in theaters those films that it sees with opportunities at the Oscars, as was the case with “Roma”, “Marriage Story” or the recent “The Power of The Dog”.

Bard (or False Chronicle of a Few Truths)” stars the Mexican Daniel Giménez Cacho (“Only with your partner”, 1991), and the Argentine Griselda Siciliani (“Sentimental”, 2020).

The film finished shooting last September in Mexico City, reported González Iñárritu in a statement in which he described the project’s plot as “a chronicle of uncertainties where the protagonist, a renowned Mexican journalist and documentary filmmaker, returns to his country facing his identity, his family affections, the absurdity of his memories, as well as the past and new reality”.

The filmmaker, who marked a milestone in Mexican cinema with “Amores Perros” (2000), was named best director at the Cannes festival for “Babel” (2006) and has won four Oscars, three for “Birdman” (2014 ) and one for “The Revenant” (2015).
