The films “Willaq Pirqa” and “Mataindios”, shot in the Quechua language, and “Pakucha”, in the Aymara language, received ten nominations, in total, in several of the categories of the awards granted by the Peruvian Association of Cinematographic Press (Apreci ) to the most outstanding national premieres of 2022.
The association highlighted this Monday to EFE that the feature films “in native languages, such as Quechua and Aymara, obtained the largest number of nominations” for the XIV edition of its awards, which will be delivered next May 3 at the Armando Robles Godoy movie theaterfrom the Ministry of Culture.
“Willaq Pirqa, the cinema of my town” received a total of five nominations, followed by “El corazón de la luna” and “Tiempos futuros”, which received four each, and “Killing Indians”with three.
For the award for the best Peruvian fiction film, “Willaq Pirqa”, by César Galindo; “Heart of the Moon”by Aldo Salvini; “Mataindios”, by Oscar Sánchez and Robert Julca; and “Future Times”, by Víctor Checa.
The award for best Peruvian non-fiction or documentary film will be disputed by “Pakucha”, by Tito Catacora; “Railway Life”, by Manuel Bauer; “The dance of the Blackbirds”, by Alvaro Luque; and “Las cautivas”, by Natalia Maysundo.
For the best director award, César Galindo, Oscar Sánchez, Robert Julca, Aldo Salvini and Tito Catacora have been nominated.
For best script, they appear César Galindo, Augusto Cabada and Gastón Vizcarra for “Willaq Pirqa”; Oscar Sánchez and Robert Julca, for “Mataindios”; Víctor Checa, for “Future Times”; and Aldo Salvini, for “The heart of the moon”.
