Colombian singer-songwriter Juaneswho has won 27 Grammys and Latin Grammys, released this Thursday “Ojalá”, a song that is part of his new album “Vida cotidiana”, which will be released on May 19.
“I love this song for its energy, because history can happen to anyone and it has happened over time, it’s about when you meet someone and they catch your eye, but you can’t be with that person because they have their life, and you you have yours,” Juanes was quoted as saying in a press release.
The Antioquian artist added about his new musical work that “it is the most pop song on the album, it has a beautiful energy and reflects a situation in which all human beings find ourselves at some point in our lives.”
The composer this time turned his attention inward during the pandemic to reexamine his mature vision of life, love, family, social concerns, among other issues that gave him more elements to incorporate into the album.
“Ojalá” was co-written by Juanes and Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Gale and featured music by Argentine bassist Guillermo Vadalá.
As in the other musical works, today’s song came with a narrative video filmed in Medellín and directed by the Colombian María Calle.
In “Everyday Life” Juanes returns to rock and Latin American folkloric roots, with a more mature and also relaxed image, with other perspectives on love, marriage, family and his country.
From the new album, in collaboration with producer Sebastián Krys and musical director Emanuel Briceño, two singles are already known: “Amores prohibidos” and “Gris”.
