“Super Mario Bros. The Movie” was seen by more than 2 million people in Peru

“Super Mario Bros. The Movie” continues to break records in Peru and the world. This time, it was confirmed that the animated film remains the box office leader in the country for the third consecutive week, as if that were not enough, it has also exceeded the barrier of 2 million viewers in Peru.

In just 19 days since its arrival on the national billboard, the film has brought 2,002,199 Peruvians to the cinema, setting a national record, as confirmed by Universal.

It should be noted that the film has also become the second most watched animated film in the history of Peruvian cinemas. “Super Mario Bros. The Movie” far surpasses “Ice Age 4″ and is just a little behind “Toy Story 4″.

Likewise, it is in third place as the highest grossing film in all genres, post COVID-19 pandemic. It is only surpassed by the Marvel and Disney hits “Spiderman: No Way Home” and “Avatar, the way of water.”

On the other hand, the film starring the voices of Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jack Black made history after surpassing “Frozen 2” in global box office figures during its first days of release with more than 368 million of dollars of collection, becoming the best launch of an animated production in the history of the film industry.

With this exorbitant figure, “Super Mario Bros. The Movie” has surpassed “Frozen 2”, released in 2019, which earned more than 358 million dollars at that time. The list of first places is completed by movies like “Warcraft” and “Sonic 2: The Movie” with 210 and 72.1 million dollars respectively.

It should be noted that from Monday, April 24 to Wednesday, April 26, all the cinema chains in Peru, in all their rooms, will offer tickets from S/6 in the regular formats, 2D. Special formats such as 3D, Xtreme, Prime and 4DX at half price. This activity is being promoted by the National Association of Movie Theaters of Peru (ANASACI).
