The director of the Latin GrammyManuel Abud, pointed out that the agreements reached by the Latin Recording Academy with the Junta de Andalucía in Spain regarding the venue for the next awards ceremony respond to a “globalization strategy.”
“Seeking to go beyond these borders is inherent to this strategy of growth and global expansion on the part of the Academy,” said Abud at the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), a meeting dedicated to the Latin music industry that is taking place virtually. until this Friday.
Last February, the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, announced that the Spanish region would host the next awards ceremony that recognizes the excellence of Latin music, which will be announced by the Academy shortly.
“We have a very complex and serious agreement and when we signed it we agreed that we still could not announce that we would go to that city (Seville), because we are still in the process of ensuring the collaboration of our partners, but we are already very close”said Abud, who anticipated that the Academy could make the announcement in “the next few weeks.”
This will be the first time that the Latin Grammys leave the United States to go to another country, since since its creation in the year 2000 the gala has only been held in American cities, such as Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, Houston and New York.
