Ministry of Culture explains how it will supply writers who will not go to FIL Guadalajara

After some writers resigned from the delegation that will represent Peru in the Guadalajara International Book Fair (Mexico) in solidarity with nine other colleagues who were excluded by the Ministry of Culture, the entity issued a statement in this regard.

Through its various social networks, the Ministry of Culture confirmed the participation of our country in the FIL of Guadalajara with a delegation that “represents all the regions of the country.”

“Given the recent declines of some writers to participate in the Guadalajara 2021 International Book Fair (FIL), the Ministry of Culture considers it necessary to communicate the following: Peru confirms its participation in the 35 FIL of Guadalajara 2021 with a delegation representing all the regions of the countrysays the statement.

In addition, the entity reaffirmed its decision and announced the measures it will adopt to complete the list of writers who will represent the country in the international event.

“It has been arranged that the Decentralized Directorates of Culture in the country convene the most prominent writers in their region so that they can be incorporated into the official delegation of FIL Guadalajara 2021, after evaluation according to the selection process. The Decentralized Directorates of Culture will present the proposals until September 30 of this year, specified the message.

As recalled, the Ministry of Culture decided to withdraw from the delegation the writers Renato Cisneros, Karina Pacheco, Katya Adaui, Gabriela Wiener, Jorge Eslava, Cronwell Jara, Ch’aska Anka Ninawaman, Carmen McEvoy and Nelly Luna Amancio.

In solidarity with their colleagues, authors such as Alonso Cueto, Mariana De Althaus, Juan Carlos Cortázar, Victoria Guerrero, Rafael Dumett, Micaela Chiriff and Gustavo Rodríguez decided to resign from participating in the FIL of Guadalajara.
