The young man’s case is included in the file to investigate the Venezuelan State in the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The lawyer in the case, María Alejandra Poleo, explained yesterday to Efe that the decision on the murder of Vallenilla, in July 2017, when the uniformed man shot him point-blank during a protest in front of an air base in Caracas, “it confirms that there is no justice in Venezuela.”

In addition, he reported that the case of Vallenilla, also outlined in the report of the UN Commission for the Determination of Facts on Venezuela, has suffered procedural delay since 2017 and it was not until February of this year that this trial “full of interruptions” was resumed.

Poleo pointed out that this is an event with “a high prognosis for a high conviction,” because – he assured – there are videos, testimonies and studies presented before the court that show that the military man, detained since August 2017 in the Ramo Verde military prison, He was the “direct person responsible” for the murder of the 22-year-old.

“In this case, the prognosis for conviction was very high, so much so that the private accusation where it was agreed to investigate the chain of command and the crime of breaking international covenants was dismissed”, He specified after the controversial decision of Carrillo was known.

In this sense, Saab retweeted a message from 2017, when he was an ombudsman, in which he condemned “the terrible murder” of Vallenilla.
