Sia considered suicide and returned to treatment after the bad buzz of her film “Music”

The controversy around his film Music was so toxic that Sia became suicidal. In any case, this is what the singer revealed in an interview, carried out as part of a portrait of the New York Times about her friend Kathy Griffin.

In the interview, the interpreter of Chandelier explains that the bad buzz affected her a lot. Many film critics were harsh on the musical, which starred Kate Hudson as a former drug addict who comes to terms with caring for a young autistic girl, played by Maddie Ziegler.

Beyond the film reviews, it was the comments of autistic people’s associations that affected the star. Maddie Ziegler is indeed neurotypical, and the choice to cast her in this sensitive role has been unanimously decried.

“I was suicidal, I relapsed and I went back to rehab,” Sia explained of her situation during this very complicated period.

Forget the controversy

Sia explains that Kathy Griffin invited her to dinner at a high-profile Hollywood restaurant last fall. A way to attract the paparazzi and change the media cycle around the star, to forget the controversy. “She saved my life”, explained very simply the artist, known for her shyness and her big blond wigs which hide her face.

After the film’s release, Sia said she heard the various reviews and said she was “sorry” in a since-defunct tweet. The star had deleted his Twitter account.
