“Polinesios Revolution”: we talked with the ‘youtubers’ about their new documentary at Disney

Ten years have passed since three brothers uploaded a video to YouTube with the aim of having fun. Over time, that hobby turned into a full-time job that made them the most influential YouTubers in Latin America. With more than 25 million followers on that video platform, they are still the same dreamy and kind young people who recorded with a homemade camera, with the difference that they now give press conferences and presentations that fill stadiums.

Rafa, Karen and Lesslie spoke exclusively with El Comercio about what we will see in their special “Polinesios Revolution”, an original Disney Plus documentary. The three brothers cannot hide their joy that one of their greatest goals has been fulfilled. “It is a dream come trueSays Karen. “We grew up with Disney and now seeing that we are on the platform makes us very happy”, adds Rafa, the older brother who decided to leave his stable job in the corporate world to try to ‘break’ the Internet. And they did.

The revolution

It is not an exaggeration to mention that Los Polinesios revolutionized YouTube and social networks. They influenced other content creators and ten years later they continue with new projects. “It’s a challenge all the time. It is to be thinking what we have not done yet, what we still have to do, to explore”, comments Rafael. “We show it in ‘Polinesios Revolution’. Everything that is behind and what is not shown when you create contentOr,” he adds.

In the special for Disney, these influencers portray how hard it can be to generate content for social networks, that not everything is laughter and success. “The great challenge was to put together a story with the recorded material, since we had many hours of filming”, indicates Rafa. “It was 40 hours of recording. We had an idea of what the special was going to be, but it was transformed according to how we were evolving “, aña de Karen.

Lesslie, the youngest of the trio, explains that the documentary presents very intimate moments of the group. “I felt that we were like a bullet train that did not stop. There are so many people behind you and so many projects that you think it is very selfish to stop because your body asks you to”, remember. “PBut I think we should give ourselves moments to rest, to resume and give ourselves a break”, he complements.

On the other hand, Rafa mentions that in the documentary, Peruvians will be able to see what happened to him when they came in 2018. “I got really sick from overwork. In the documentary you can see how we solve it and how from that, we learn. For us it is very important to share it with the world, so that they can see that it not only happens to you, but also to us, and so that they can take inspiration from our experiences.”, he ends.

The Polynesians at some point have thought about stopping and they mention that it is natural for humans to seek change. “We have been doing it for 10 years. I think that if you dedicate yourself to something and do it for a long time, you somehow come to think that you have already learned what you had to learn, and you want to do something else. So, of course, what happened, in the movie you will be able to tell”, adds Lesslie.

Finally, the young content creators would like to inspire new generations or their own to continue working for their goals. “If you have a dream, go for it. You will probably find yourself with a tide, but if you genuinely want it, you want it and you are going to do it with love. I believe that everything you are going to go through is only going to be a challenge, but the satisfaction of reaching that goal that you always sought or imagined is the most satisfying thing in the world. In addition, we must be aware that it takes time, let it weave, let your dream be created”, concludes Lesslie.

The data

“Polinesios Revolution” will hit screens exclusively on Disney Plus on January 28.
