Lot: how a photo of a man with Charcot’s disease and his pregnant wife caused a stir

“I didn’t expect so many reactions at all, this photo was not planned, but I wanted to share this special photo shoot with so much love,” admits Morgan Hamono. This photographer from Gramat (Lot), who specializes in maternity and childbirth photography, caused a stir on Facebook after posting on December 12 a photo of Alisson, a young woman seven months pregnant, and Mikael, her companion, who suffers from Charcot’s disease. An emotional moment that was liked almost 475,000 times on social media.

On December 12, Alisson, a resident of Gramat, came alone to the photographer’s studio for a session she had scheduled. “She was smiling very much and wanted to capture this moment in her life as a memory, so I quickly asked her why her companion was missing,” says Morgan Hamono. She spontaneously told me that he was in a wheelchair because he had Charcot’s disease and that the studio was not accessible to him. She later explains this illness to me, that he is on a respirator and communicates with his eyes: this upset me. »

“It was magical”

At the end of the session, the photographer, touched by Alisson’s cheerfulness, offered to stop by her home to photograph the couple. Frightened by Mikael’s illness, she took a series of twenty photographs lasting two to three minutes.

“I asked Alisson to climb into Mikael’s lap, he winked at me to reassure me, but I was touched by how she understood him with a simple word,” admits the photographer. They held hands and looked at Alisson’s stomach, it was magical. ” Hours later, she shared a photo on social media that sent people into a frenzy. Touched by the couple’s story, she offered them photographs.
