A batch of cancer drugs was recalled due to a printing error on the packaging.

The KRKA laboratory reported an error on the aluminum tablet packaging of some boxes of its cancer drug Imatinib HCS, the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM) reports. On the “blisters” of boxes of lot Y00792 (expiry date 06/2025) we can read “400 mg” instead of “100 mg”.

The only error is in the aluminum packaging. The information on the packaging is correct and the box contains 100 mg tablets. Patients who have medications from this lot should return them to their pharmacy for exchange.

Under no circumstances should patients stop treatment while waiting for a new pack from the pharmacist: the dosage indicated on the pack is correct. These are indeed 100 mg tablets.

This treatment can be prescribed in cases of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and other types of cancer of the blood, digestive tract or skin, in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Solidarity and Health.
