Ibai Llanos responds after criticism for ensuring that the picarones are Chilean

More than 1,684 comments generated by the Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos on Twitter by sharing the commercial he recorded for Chile with a well-known brand of soft drinks. But many of those comments did not point to the acting performance of the digital idol, but to a statement that he made in the recording: the picarones are Chilean.

In the video in question, Llanos highlights various qualities of the southern country, but at one point he refers to the food, especially that which has the most “original and different” names, such as broken calzones, stone pork, potito sandwich and stings.

Having thousands of followers in Latin America, the streamer’s Peruvian audience was quick to point out the error. In the comments of the video, which you can see below, they even recalled the controversy that arose in 2016 when the official page of Marca Chile promoted this same dish as part of Chilean cuisine.

And it is that this same official page, when it was called “Amigos de Chile”, made a similar publication in 2014 promoting this Peruvian dessert as a native of the neighboring country to the south, which reignited the controversy in Spanish social networks. from this new commercial.

Given the comments, Ibai Llanos made a new publication on Monday, April 18, assuring that he has already “understood” the origin of the dessert and asked that they give him a truce.

The picarones and Chile

According to the sociologist and researcher of Peruvian cuisine Isabel Álvarez, the picarones arrived in Chile in the 19th century from Peru.

“The technique (of Peruvian women) transcended borders when a Lima picaronera married a Chilean soldier. They both moved to Chile between 1824 and 1826. Since then, the picarón has been sold in the Plaza de San Carlo”, Álvarez explained in an article in the magazine “Vamos”.
