The Council of State has asked Gérald Darmanin to consider Nupes as a “full political nuance”

The Council of State on Tuesday ordered Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin to take Nupes into consideration as “a political nuance in its own right” during the legislative elections, giving reason to Jean-Luc Mélenchon who had seized him in summary proceedings.

The decision “not to regroup”

The Council of State considered that “counting the political parties of this coalition separately can undermine the sincerity of the presentation of the electoral results”, he explained in a press release.

Gérald Darmanin had decided “not to bring together, under a single nuance, the political parties having created the coalition of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (NUPES)” resulting from the agreement between LFI, the PS, EELV and the PCF, recalled the Council of State.

A promise on twitter

The judge in chambers therefore considered that the color chart put in place by the Minister of the Interior would group under the label Together! the results of the presidential majority, while environmental candidates invested by Nupes, for example, would be “counted under another nuance with other environmental movements not belonging” to the alliance.

The Ministry of the Interior took note on Twitter “of the decision of the Council of State on the nuance of the candidates for the legislative elections”. “It will proceed with the modification of the shade grid in order to create the Nupes shade,” he assured.
