Argentina: 12-year-old boy carries a gun to school and teachers fear a shooting

A 12-year-old boy sowed terror in a primary school in Buenos Aires, Argentina, when the teachers found out that he was carrying a gun in his backpack. Teachers feared a new shooting case.

The incident occurred last Monday at Primary School 22, in Villa Zapiola, in Dark. As he detailed in his statements, the boy always knew of the existence of that weapon inside his house, so he decided to play “a joke” on his classmates.

He took the gun and put it in his backpack without his parents noticing. At recess time, he took his classmates to the bathroom and showed them the object, at the same time that the others began to manipulate it.

It was the boy himself who decided to warn his teacher what he had in his possession, so the educator alerted the director of the institution and they called the authorities.

The Buenos Aires police arrived at the school and found that the weapon was a 22-caliber revolver, but that it was out of ammunition, so it did not represent a danger at that time. “I had no ammunition, therefore, I was not fit to shoot”specified a judicial source of the investigation.

The institution also contacted the mother, who arrived immediately and confirmed that the gun belonged to her, but that she always kept it in a closet, away from the reach of minors.

Fortunately, the event did not escalate and the authorities ruled out a school shooting, so classes continue in person. However, the psychopedagogy team is already working with the student and his family.

Justice also intervened to determine the origin of the weapon that the woman had.

This situation keeps the police on alert, since, in another school in Moreno, a 14-year-old boy also carried a weapon, exhibited it in front of his classmates, but a tragedy did not happen. The police also intervened.
