War in Ukraine: “Finally the president has changed course,” welcomes MEP Raphael Glucksmann

Half satisfied. Place publique candidate – PS list Raphaël Glucksmann welcomed this Sunday the tone of Emmanuel Macron’s remarks, reported by the Parisian Today newspaper in France. In an exchange of information provided to Le Parisien, the president confirmed that “perhaps at some point – I don’t want it, I won’t take the initiative – we will have to carry out operations on the ground, whatever they may be, to counter Russian forces.”

“Emmanuel Macron is right to highlight the extremely serious nature of the situation,” Glucksmann commented on the BFM Politique program in partnership with our newspaper. Finally, the President of the Republic changed course and took seriously the threat that threatened not only Ukrainians, but all Europeans. »

Sending in ground troops is a “debate that has no place”

However, the outgoing MEP believes sending in ground troops is “a debate that has no place.” “What the Ukrainians are asking us to do and what the current situation requires of us is not to send troops to the ground,” the MEP insisted. “Nobody today asks young Frenchmen to go and die for Kyiv or Odessa. »

However, he admits that this grim scenario cannot be completely ruled out. “If we do what we have to do today, we won’t need it,” he demurs.

During this program, Raphael Glucksmann also stated that he would not participate in the debate organized by CNews for these elections at the end of May, believing that “it is an opinion channel that promotes far-right themes.”
