She was just elected. European MP Nathalie Antona, elected on June 9 in 24th place on Jordan Bardella’s list in the European elections, died on Tuesday, June 18, the president of the National Rally announced in a press release.
“It is with great sadness that we learned today of the sudden death of Nathalie Antona, a member of the National Rally in Corsica,” said Jordan Bardella. “The National Association mourns and shares the pain of its families and loved ones and conveys its warmest thoughts to those who worked with it,” he added.
Only Corsica MEP
As Cors-Maten notes, she was the only elected MEP from the Island of Beauty, but also “the first female MP from the island to win a seat.” Marine Le Pen was thus hailed as “a tireless activist for the national cause, driven by conviction and passionate patriotism.” In political struggle, and in the face of illness, she demonstrated amazing courage and tenacity.”

“She fought until the end”
This 49-year-old woman from Ajaccio has just been elected to her first term as a European MP thanks to the 31.4% of votes collected by RN in the European elections. In total, the party is sending a delegation of 30 members of the European Parliament to Strasbourg and Brussels.
According to France Bleu RCFM, she suffered from a lung disease from which she died. She was hospitalized during part of the European campaign. “She was very tired, but she fought to the end, she was a beautiful person,” François Filoni, head of RN in Corsica, reacted to our colleagues.
André Rouget, a former RN MEP who took the thirty-first position on Bardella’s list, is to replace Nathalie Antonou in the RN delegation to the European Parliament.
