Álvaro Gutiérrez referred to the ‘U’ win: “The operation is a credit to Gregorio Pérez”

Universitario has started off on the right foot in Liga 1 2022 by adding two consecutive goals. On this occasion, they beat San Martín 3-0 at the Monumental Stadium. In that sense, the coach Álvaro Gutiérrez pointed out that he acquired more calm after the second goal.

“I was calmer when we scored the second goal and it opened the game for us. We knew that we were facing a team with difficulties, but on the field it was seen that they know how to handle the ball, they have a lot of mobility in the middle, it was a complicated rival”, he pointed.

In the same way, he recognized the work of the previous coach. “Generally, I play with a line of 4 or use 4-2-3-1. We did a practice and we didn’t like how it turned out and preferred to keep a system that had been used. Gregorio Pérez is credited with this performance, I just gave some small concepts and I thank the players”, mentioned.

For his part, Álvaro Gutiérrez applauded Alex Valera’s match, who scored a goal and also added two goals in this tournament. The coach of the ‘U’ highlighted the qualities of the striker who is on a roll, since he also inflated the nets of Panama and Jamaica in the Peruvian team.

“I was surprised by the level of several players. You have to put up with Valera because he goes to everyone, he generates, supports himself well, fights them all and is generous defensively and the team feels that ”, he added.
