Julio Rivera: The president of the IPD has ten days to prove his experience and remain in office | REPORT

The conclusion of the aforementioned report is that the remembered ‘Coyote’ accredited experience in sports management with “a record that contains inaccurate information.” Julio Rivera stated that he had been the founder and sports director of the Coyote Rivera Soccer School for 9 years. However, this academy registered his RUC only in 2019. Sources from the comptroller’s office assured us that the Minister of Education, Rosendo Serna, must issue a response with his work team within a maximum of ten days.

“The Minedu must communicate with the Institutional Control Body of the Comptroller’s Office”, is the conclusion of the study carried out by the aforementioned entity. Although there is no application or request for sanction, a subsequent report from auditors could determine if there is any administrative or criminal liability for presenting false data in documentation to the Peruvian State.

I can’t be a coach from one day to the next if I haven’t prepared myself. After my sports career, I studied a Masters in Business Administration and from there I sought to apply for some positions”Gonzales responded to us in January.

IPD Response

Yesterday afternoon, the IPD issued a statement in which they confirmed that they will clarify the irregularities pointed out by the comptroller. “It is necessary to point out the following: the current president of the IPD has been evaluated in accordance with the provisions of Law 29544, on requirements to access the position… In this sense, Julio Rivera Gonzales, meets all the requirements indicated in the article 12… This will be clarified in the corresponding instances in the shortest possible time”says the statement.

What they refer to in this release is the following section 2 of article 12 of the Law for the Promotion and Development of Sport: “Prove experience or knowledge of not less than four (4) years in work related to management, leadership or activity in the field of sport in general.”

From the IPD they confirmed that they will accredit the years in sports management, but they will also rely on Rivera’s more than ten years as a professional soccer player, in the First Division and with participation in the Peruvian national team.

The former attacker has had different meetings in recent days with athletes, former athletes and state officials. Recent IPD publications include meetings with congressmen Karol Paredes (AP) and Víctor Cutipa (PL). Yesterday he met with the skater Angelo Caro and a few days ago with the former Olympic runner-up volleyball players from Seoul 88.
