He already manages it: Lewis Hamilton will add his mother’s last name to his name

There are actions that say a lot about a person. In a show of love and respect for his mother, seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton revealed Monday in Dubai that he is adding his mother’s surname, Carmen Larbalestier, to his name in order to pay tribute to her.

“My mother’s surname is Larbalestier and I am making arrangements to add it to mine”explained the Mercedes team driver in a question-answer session on a stage at the Dubai World Expo.

The change will happen “early”specified the 37-year-old Briton, who would thus be officially called Lewis Hamilton-Larbalestier, although it will not be before the first Grand Prix of the season, in Bahrain this coming weekend.

“I don’t understand this idea that married women lose their surname when they get married”explained the pilot, who also wants his mother’s surname not to disappear.

Lewis Hamilton spent part of his childhood with his mother despite his parents’ divorce when he was still a child.

A new F1 season is coming

F1 has already started its countdown to the start of a new championship. The engines are increasingly ready to roar less than a month before the 2022 season kick-off (March 20). And just like in other places, in the ‘Great Circus’ there is also a preseason. All the teams, except Alfa Romeo, have presented their models and are already in Barcelona for their first tests, until Friday. Then they will have the official training sessions in Bahrain, from March 10 to 12, before the start of the World Cup.

This season will be full of changes in the single-seater regulations, such as the return of the ‘ground effect’, which will help reduce pressure between the car’s ground and the track in order to increase grip and speed in the corner. Among the new rules that will be carried out, those aimed at limiting the costs of the equipment also stand out.
