Alianza Lima integrates group H in the Copa Libertadores 2022 with River Plate, Colo Colo and Fortaleza. The rivals have already begun to speak about what the competition will mean and one of them was the DT of the Chilean team, Gustavo Quinteros, who praised the blue and white club.

At a press conference, the Argentine technical director also recalled that a bond of friendship was formed between the intimate club and the ‘Cacique’. As is known, the Victorian team lost its squad in a plane crash in 1987 and the ‘Albos’ presented some players.

“Alianza Lima is a great Peruvian, it will be a very tough rival beyond the brotherhood between both clubs. We will try to play at 100 to win the points and advance to the phase”said Gustavo Quinteros who assumed the technical direction of Colo Colo in October 2020 and saved him from relegation.

In the same way, he considered that the team will not be harmed by moving to other cities. “Buenos Aires is close and Lima too. Trips always worry about the sections, schedules, rest, etc. I think the draw was quite good in that sense, we don’t have such long trips “he added.

It is important to mention that Gabriel Costa, midfielder of the Chilean team, will be reunited with his former team. The Uruguayan nationalized Peruvian midfielder played for the blue and white club from 2014 to 2015 and then wore the Sporting Cristal shirt with which he scored the intimate cast.

Alianza Lima and its bad streak in the Copa Libertadores

The last time that Alianza Lima won a match in the Copa Libertadores was in 2012. The squad led by Soto, at that time, beat Nacional de Uruguay 1-0 in Lima with a goal by José Carlos Fernández. Since then, he has gone 23 games (19 losses and 4 draws) without winning.
