Agustín Lozano referred to the U-17 World Cup to be held in Peru: “It is a brilliant opportunity to strengthen the sport”

The president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), Agustín Lozano, pointed out the benefits to our country of organizing the U-17 World Cup, which was postponed from 2021 to 2023. This was explained by the boss after receiving guarantees from the Government of Peru for the celebration of the tournament next year in national territory.

“Beyond putting the country in the eyes of the world and generating great economic movement in favor of the country, hosting this World Cup will leave a great sports legacy in infrastructure that various regions of the country need so much. It is a brilliant opportunity to strengthen the sport, to provide young people and those who love soccer with infrastructure with great conditions to develop this beloved discipline”stated for the FPF website.

“We have complied with communicating this letter from the president to FIFA and in the coming days we will receive the visit of those who are responsible for evaluating the regions that are under consideration to host the World Cup. We will work hand in hand with the Government, the Ministry of Education, the Peruvian Sports Institute and with competent professionals who help us to carry out the World Cup”he added.

In the same way, he pointed out that our country has held international competitions in previous years. “Peru has organized the U-17 World Cup in 2005, we held the Copa América in 2004 and various international events of great stature”, he explained.

“I think Peru has shown on more than one occasion that it is up to the task of organizing international tournaments. On this occasion, it will be a brilliant opportunity to do it with greater experience and obtain better positive results in favor of the country”he claimed.
