Roman Abramovich says goodbye to Chelsea after having an agreement for the sale of the club

Chelsea confirmed on Saturday that it has reached a definitive agreement to sell the club to the Todd Boehly/Clearlake consortium and expects the transaction to be completed on Monday. The entity issued a statement in which it corroborates that it has reached a definitive agreement for a record figure of 4,250 million pounds (4,999 million euros).

After that announcement, Roman Abramovich wanted to speak out and did so through a statement that was released on the ‘Blues’ website. The Russian, in the first instance, revealed that since he put the institution up for sale, he worked hard to get an offer that guarantees the continuity of the successful project he led.

“Almost three months have passed since I announced my intention to sell Chelsea FC. During this time, the team has worked hard to find the right custodian for Chelsea FC who is best positioned to successfully lead the Club into its next chapter.”said the tycoon.

“Ownership of this Club carries with it a great responsibility. Since I arrived at Chelsea almost twenty years ago, I have witnessed first-hand what this Club can achieve. My aim has been to ensure that the next owner has a mindset that enables the success of the men’s and women’s team, as well as the will and drive to continue to develop other key aspects of the Club, such as the Academy and the vital work of the Chelsea Foundation.”he continued.

Abramovich then sent his best wishes to the Todd Boehly/Clearlake Capital consortium. “I am glad that this search has come to fruition. As we hand over Chelsea to its new custodians, I would like to wish them every success, both on and off the pitch.”said the businessman.

After that, the Russian said goodbye to the fans and all the people he met during this period. “It has been a lifetime honor to be part of this club. I would like to thank all the current and former players, staff and of course the fans for these amazing years.”assured.

“I am proud that as a result of our joint successes, millions of people are now benefiting from the new charitable foundation that is being created. This is the legacy we have created together.”concluded Abramovich, who won a total of 21 titles in 19 seasons, including two Champions Leagues.
