The tears of ‘Checo’ Pérez during the intonation of the Mexican anthem in Monaco | VIDEO

Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez made history this Sunday by winning the Monaco Grand Prixthe third of his career in the Formula 1, and become the fifth Latin American to celebrate in the Principality. Visibly moved, the man from Guadalajara experienced a great moment during the singing of the Mexican anthem in Monte Carlo and made his compatriots proud.

The Red Bull driver was elated after scoring his third win in Formula One at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. “It is a dream come true. As a driver you always dream of winning here. After the home grand prix, there is no more special weekend”, he commented after crossing the finish line.

The man from Guadalajara, who started third, took first place thanks to his team’s strategy and had to withstand the push of Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) in the last minutes with degraded tires.

”I am left with having done it and how we have done it. We got a little complicated at the end but with the graining he had it was about not making mistakes and keeping Carlos at bay, which is not easy”, he declared. The Mexican confessed to being “super excited” and acknowledged that “it has been an incredible day” for him and for his country.
