Kyrgios shines with a shot between his legs, but suffered a spectacular accident | VIDEO

The grass-court season has kicked off in tennis and Nick Kyrgios (ATP: 65) has delighted the crowd in Germany, although he has yet to win a title. The Australian athlete was eliminated in the semifinals of the Halle Open this Saturday, after falling 2-1 against the Pole Hubert Hurkacz (ATP: 12), with partials of 4-6; 7-6 (7-2) and 7-6 (7-4).

The confrontation was very even, which was reflected in the double tie-break, and the ‘Bad boy’ did not hesitate to show his quality on the court, but that almost cost him an injury. The unexpected accident occurred in the second set, unleashing the concern of all those present at the Gerry Weber Stadion.

The story was 5-4 in favor of Hubert Hurkacz and Nick had the serve, with the possibility of heading to even the score. The eccentric tennis player delivered a powerful serve and moved quickly over the net, noting that his opponent had difficulty hitting the return shot.

Kyrgios volleyed to win the point, although his rival did not give up and surprised him with a ‘lob’. Due to the distance with the ball, the ‘Bad Boy’ desperately backed away and decided to use his last card: he made a tweener, the popular shot between the legs.

The response was effective, but Nick couldn’t stay in the fight for the score. After hitting the ball, the Australian skidded with his right foot, twisting his left ankle and ending up lying on the grass. Hurkacz made it 15-0 and chose not to celebrate, looking at his fallen opponent.

Hubert immediately crossed the pitch to help his rival, just as Aurélie Tourte, the French referee for the match, arrived. Kyrgios stood up after a few seconds and despite showing pain in his hip, he was able to continue in competition. This time there was no injury to regret.
