Gareth Bale decides to continue his career outside of European football

Gareth Bale’s fate will be detached from European football. After leaving Real Madrid as a free agent, the attacker’s name appeared as an option for clubs like Getafe from LaLiga in Spain or Cardiff City from the Championship (Second Division in England). However, the winger has already made a decision regarding his career.

According to information from The Athletic, the ‘Cardiff Express’ reached an initial agreement to join the ranks of Los Angeles FC of Major League Soccer (MLS). In principle, the former Tottenham will sign a contract that binds him until June 2023. There is an option to extend this deal for another 18 months.

In this way, Bale joins the ambitious project of the Angelenos that has already given a first blow with the signing of Giorgio Chiellini. The Italian defender ended his relationship with Juventus and accepted the proposal from the United States to continue in activity. Both will join a cast that is led by the Mexican Carlos Vela, with a past at Arsenal and Real Sociedad.

The striker’s decision is linked to the activity he requires to arrive in good shape at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. In fact, Gareth publicly stated it after concluding his stage with the ‘White House’. “I need to make sure I’m playing and being as fit as possible”he explained.

Bale led the ‘Red Dragons’ to their first World Cup qualification since Sweden 1958. “The ideal is to be playing to arrive in top form, but I also feel that I will never lose my quality with the ball”said the attacker after obtaining the ticket through the UEFA play-off in which he eliminated Austria and Ukraine.

The Welsh international only played seven games in his last campaign with Real Madrid. On April 4 he was against Getafe in LaLiga for 17 minutes. He then was not considered by coach Carlo Ancelotti. In more, the 32-year-old footballer returned to action on June 5 with the national team and chained four games.

When could Bale debut?

According to information from the newspaper AS, Bale and Chiellini, Los Angeles FC’s star signings, would wear the club’s colors for the first time on July 9 against the Los Angeles Galaxy in the derby known as ‘El Tráfico’.

For this match, Los Angeles FC is expected to maintain the leadership of the Western Conference. So far, with 15 games played, they are leaders with 30 points, two more than the 28 of Real Salt Lake, which has already played 16 games.
