Tests for Néstor Lorenzo: Colombia will play friendlies with Mexico and Guatemala

The Colombian team was left out of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and is getting ready to start a new process, with the Argentine Néstor Lorenzo as coach. The DT was presented by the Colombian Football Federation a few weeks ago, but he did not take office immediately, respecting the pending obligations he has with Melgar.

The Peruvian club is about to finish its participation in the Opening Tournament, in which it can be champion; and will face Deportivo Cali for the Round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana, in round-trip keys (June 29 and July 6). After fulfilling these commitments, the DT will put on the ‘Cafeteros’ diver.

Although in the coming months there will be no official competitions for the Colombian team, before the upcoming World Cup, the authorities of the federation have been agreeing friendlies, so that the squad can have continuity. So far, the confirmed games are for the September FIFA date.

Through its official platforms, the Colombian team announced that it will tour the United States, initially to collide with Guatemala. This match will take place on September 24 at the Red Bull Arena, located in the city of New Jersey.

Then, Néstor Lorenzo’s team will move to Santa Clara, since they will face their similar team from Mexico at Levi’s Stadium (September 27). In the coming weeks, the coach will take control of his new role and plan the details for his first call-up.

Let us remember that the Colombian representative only had one preparation duel during the month of June: he defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0, with a goal by Rafael Santos Borré, at the Enrique Roca Stadium in Murcia, Spain.
