Fabio Gruber, the defender born in Germany who can play for the Peruvian national team

Finished the classification process of the peruvian national team with the loss to Australia on penalties and not obtaining the quota to World Cup Qatar 2022in the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) they are already preparing what will be the next Qualifying campaign, and for this they are looking for players with Peruvian roots all over the world.

One of the alternatives that appears in this project is the defender Fabius Gruber, who plays for Augsburg II. The soccer player is German, but because his mother is Peruvian, he meets the conditions to at some point wear the Peruvian national team shirt if he so decides.

The case is similar to that of Gianluca Lapadula, who was born in Italy, but could choose to play for Peru, because his mother is Peruvian. Fabio, who plays as a central defender, is 19 years old and is about to turn 20. He has already had contact with people from the Peruvian Football Federation and aims to debut in the Bundesliga in the main team of Augsburg.

“It is category 2002, we were following him and chatting with him for the previous U-20. I took him off my list because he is too big for what we need, but he is a boy who has conditions and surely the first-rate coach will analyze him. He is in a position to belong to a selection ”, said Pablo Bossi, head of the FPF Recruitment area in an interview with AS.

Fabio is 1.88 cm tall. and he did all the minor categories at Augsburg. In the last season he played 33 games, 31 of them as a starter, always as a central defender and on some occasions as a right back.
