Caminos del Inca: the Raymi of Peruvian motorsport begins with a spectacular symbolic departure on the Costa Verde

More than organizing a race, what is sought in 2022 is that Inca roads recover the identity of always: the event that connects the history of Peru with the noise of the engines crossing emblematic cities. For this edition, not only was the decision made that for the first time it would end in the provinces, and that Cusco would host the final award, but also the race that was always theirs was being returned to the towns.

“The start is called Raymi Costa Verde and the arrival will be Raymi Cusco”, says Juan Diego Alegría, director of the race, a week before the start. It is that as he himself had told us on other occasions, “Inca Trails is a test of provinces.”

And it is the idea that will surround the 50th edition of the race, a special event. That is why the Raymi this Friday on the Costa Verde of Magdalena has a symbolic value. It will be a motorsport party at the Circuit de Playas from 2 in the afternoon. An event that celebrates the return of Caminos after two editions of pause due to the pandemic that paralyzed the world, and that we will continue on all El Comercio platforms.

“We seek to remember that the race is Caminos del Inca. That is why the arrival in Cusco, with Quechua terms, and the passage through different towns. We want it to be a party”, adds Alegría.

The symbolic game will be open to the public. Iron lovers will be able to get to know the powerful cars and be photographed with them. From 2 pm they will be in the Costa Verde of Magdalena to receive the fans.

There will be 140 vehicles in competition and one by one they will go through the ramp that has been prepared in the same style as the Dakar, when it started in Lima in 2013. This year, in addition, the competition has the endorsement of
