Miguel Herrera could not win the title: Tigres UANL announced the departure of ‘Piojo’

In the 2022 Liga MX Opening Tournament, Tigres UANL showed a great soccer level and was even considered one of the candidates for the title. However, coach Miguel Herrera was once again a victim of the irregularity and, after being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the competition, it became known that he would no longer be in charge.

During the morning of this Wednesday, the university institution revealed on its social networks that the “Louse” will not continue to command the squad for Clausura 2023. The news generated surprise among the fans, although some approved the determination of the directive.

“Club Tigres announces that after carrying out an in-depth analysis, it has made the decision to end the employment relationship with Miguel Herrera and his work team”begins the statement from the sports entity.

“We thank Miguel and his entire coaching staff for the professionalism shown throughout the three league tournaments in which they led Tigres and we wish them success in their future projects”add the document.

In the same way, the ‘Universitarios’ indicated that they are already searching for the coach who will take charge of the squad in the near future. Let us remember that those from UANL have not been champions since Clausura 2019, when the Brazilian Ricardo Ferretti held the position of DT.

Throughout his period in Tigres, Miguel Herrera played three championships and always entered the league for the title, but he was unsuccessful: he was eliminated in the semifinals by León (better position in the table), in the 2021 Apertura; he lost both duels against Atlas in the semifinals, in Clausura 2022; and recently fell to Pachuca, in the quarterfinals.
