The newspaper L’Equipe gave information regarding the father of those summoned to the Qatar 2022 World Cup with the French team, the same one who was missing for 18 years.

This is Jean-François Hernández, a former player who was a member of Compostela, Rayo Vallecano and Atlético de Madrid. After almost two decades, he is heard from again.

The aforementioned source carried out an investigation through testimonies from relatives and friends to be able to reconstruct the track of Jean-François Hernández and what happened to him in this very long period of time away from everyone and in which his own children did not even know if he was still live.

His whereabouts became unknown in 2004. It was when a man who had been in Thailand for a long time and who now reportedly returned to France went unnoticed. In addition, the investigation shows a very different version from the one that was known and refutes the myth that Jean-François Hernández abandoned his children.

“He never abandoned his children. It was her, his ex-girlfriend (Laurence Py, who separated him from them”, says Bruno Saliba, one of his cousins. Lauris Hernández, another daughter of the former soccer player, supports Saliba’s testimony. “My father has been maligned for too long”.

The current PSG coach Christophe Galtier also shows himself in this line: “He is a wonderful person, the complete opposite of what I have read or heard about him in recent years. He was above all a very familiar person, who always deeply loved his children.”.

Jean-François’ ex-partner, Sonia Moldes, reveals that: “We tried to fight with the lawyers, but it was hell. Desperate, he went to Thailand. I know she tried multiple times to talk to them from there, but she never got past the kids. She quit. That is the version that Lucas and Theo must know. She loves them more than her own life”.

Since then he would have been away from all the media spotlights, although he has never missed a match for his children with the French team: “He misses his children a lot, he suffers. We don’t care about Theo and Lucas’s money. All we want is to see them again. Especially my father. I know that he secretly hopes that his children will call him. He loves them so much. I can’t imagine how happy he would be if that happened…”, says Lauris Hernández.
